Dalton Kincaid, Dawson Knox Nursing Injuries as Buffalo Bills Return Home
The Buffalo Bills' London excursion may be over, but it's raining and pouring for Western New York.
Buffalo was already well-aware that Sunday's visit to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was costly for reasons beyond the 25-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, as Matt Milano and DaQuan Jones are out indefinitely with injuries that require surgery. Beyond the front seven, however, the Bills may be dealing with medical issues at tight end.
As the team returns home to face the New York Giants in this week's edition of "Sunday Night Football" (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC), head coach Sean McDermott announced that Dalton Kincaid is in concussion protocol while Dawson Knox is dealing with wrist issues.
Buffalo's offensive management appears to be particularly concerned about the status of Kincaid, who has struggled to make a statistical impact after arriving as the team's first-round pick (25th overall) in last spring's draft.
"Dalton has grown into a player we can move around and do some different things with. (He's) a very good route runner, (and has) a good feel for the game," offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey said, per Alex Brasky of the Batavia Daily News. "It's something we need to continue to grow, need to continue to make sure he's a big part of this offense."
"I think there's room to grow that route tree and get him more vertical on some things," Dorsey continued. "We've tried a couple (of) times, it just hasn't worked out based on defense or other factors. It's definitely something we can continue to grow and improve on just from a system standpoint."
Through the first five games, Kincaid has earned 117 yards on 18 receptions, none of which have gone for scores.
If neither Kincaid nor Knox is able to go on Sunday night, primary tight end duties will go to longtime Bill Quintin Morris, who has been better documented as a blocker and special teamer. Undrafted rookie Joel Wilson also lingers on the team's practice squad.
