Bills QB Josh Allen Breaks Down 'Instinctive' Dalton Kincaid

Buffalo Bills rookie first-round pick Dalton Kincaid is impressing early into training camp.

The Buffalo Bills dedicated their first-round pick in April's draft to getting quarterback Josh Allen more help on offense. The Bills already have a No. 1 receiver in Stefon Diggs, but as the loss in the AFC Divisional round to the Cincinnati Bengals showed, they need more.

The Bills are hoping that part of that "more" will come from rookie tight end Dalton Kincaid. The No. 25 overall pick from this year's draft has drawn praise from quarterback Josh Allen recently as the Bills enter the third week of training camp.

“I love [Kincaid]. He’s smart, he’s instinctive,” Allen said Thursday. “I feel no moment is too big for him. He understands his role in the offense.”

Thursday's comments are just the latest from Allen, as he's already praised the rookie for his instincts and IQ when it came to running routes against zone coverage. Ultimately, Allen acknowledged that with Kincaid's play-making ability, he can be a true quarterback-friendly outlet.

All of these have been good early signs of development for not only Kincaid as a player but also his connection with Allen. With the offense as it's currently constructed on paper, the Bills look set to heavily feature their new tight-end duo of Dawson Knox and Kincaid.

The transformation into a 12-personnel (one running back and two tight ends) football team is new for Buffalo as the Bills have been near the bottom of the league in seasons pasts for the usage of two tight end sets.

Yet, with Knox and Kincaid, that will likely change. The Bills will look to make up for the loss of pass-catchers from a season ago, including Isaiah McKenzie and Cole Beasley, both of whom would normally function out of the slot.
