Bills QB Josh Allen Building Bond with Dalton Kincaid: 'One of the Best!'
Getting quarterback Josh Allen more help was a point of emphasis for the Buffalo Bills this offseason. No move was more evident of that than when they traded up to get tight end Dalton Kincaid in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
And though it's just a few days into training camp, Allen and Kincaid's relationship on the field is already off to a strong start as the rookie continues to get reps with the first team.
"His instincts are very high, especially for a rookie tight end," Allen said on One Bills Live. "Understanding in zone coverage which way to turn, whether it's inside or outside. His catch radius is pretty big. He's got some grippers on him, and he can move those around and snag the ball out of the air."
In his final season at Utah, Kincaid had 70 catches for 890 yards and eight touchdowns. The Bills now have Kincaid and Dawson Knox at tight end, and Allen said the duo gives Buffalo's offense more versatility when they're both on the field.
"They compliment each other in such a good way," Allen said. "Dawson, being able to utilize what he's good at. His speed, his aggressiveness [and] his size. And then Dalton, some of the underneath stuff. He can be that friendly outlet for a quarterback."
Knox had 48 receptions for 517 yards and six touchdowns, which led to his first Pro Bowl appearance in 2022.
For Kincaid, he noted that Allen has made life easy for him and that the quarterback's creativity has stood out to him.
"It helps [that] he's one of the best quarterbacks in the league," Kincaid said. "It makes my job a lot easier. I just got to catch the ball and be in the right spot for him. He's very creative and crafty in the things he does."
If Kincaid's strong start to training camp can carry over into the season, it will add a much-needed weapon and take an already strong Bills offense to the next level.
