Bills BREAKING: Buffalo Signs Patriots RB Damien Harris
The Buffalo Bills continue to snag talent from within the AFC East, as the team has signed New England Patriots running back Damien Harris to a one-year deal, per reports Monday from ESPN.
The terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
After signing former Miami Dolphins receiver Trent Sherfield earlier in the day, the Bills clearly weren't done finding depth from within their division, as they add Harris to the fold mere hours after losing running back Devin Singletary to the Houston Texans.
Harris himself made the news official with a tweet directed toward Bills Mafia.
Harris served as a ground-and-pound ball-carrier for coach Bill Belichick after being drafted by the Pats in the third round of the 2019 draft. After appearing in just two games as a rookie, Harris has burst on to the scene since, as he finished second in the league in rushing touchdowns (15) in 2021 while posting a career-high in carries (202) and rushing yards (929).
This move by the Bills likely signals that they are out on signing or trading for a big-name running back like Derrick Henry, Austin Ekeler or Dalvin Cook.
Behind quarterback Josh Allen, Buffalo will now look to deploy a backfield consisting of Harris and James Cook, as the pair will likely play in a committee with Harris being the short-yardage and goal-line guy and Cook serving as the go-to receiving back.
Harris has done plenty of damage against the Bills in the past. Now, he'll look to earn some "forgiveness."
