Former Bills CB Dane Jackson Signing With Panthers in Free Agency

The Buffalo Bills have already seen some major changes on defense this offseason, and now they're saying goodbye to another longtime member of the secondary.

Per reports from NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Carolina Panthers are signing former Bills cornerback Dane Jackson to a two-year deal worth up to $14.5 million.

"For Carolina and Dane Jackson, it’s a two-year deal worth up to $14.5 million, per source. Starter money for a guy who started 28 games over four seasons in Buffalo," Pelissero tweeted.

Jackson has spent the past four seasons in Buffalo after being a seventh-round pick by the Bills in the 2020 NFL Draft. In 52 career regular-season games, Jackson has posted 152 total tackles, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, three interceptions and 28 passes defended.

The Bills have already parted ways with safety Jordan Poyer along with veteran cornerback Tre'Davious White. Safety Micah Hyde could potentially be out as well, but the door is open for his return despite being a free agent.

Jackson was another key member of the core that's been built during coach Sean McDermott's tenure, but the Bills will now have to replace him and others as they look to keep their Super Bowl window open.
