Bills TE Dawson Knox Addresses 'Very Minor' Camp Injury

Dawson Knox's departure from minicamp was perhaps a tad alarming but he assured Buffalo Bills fans that it was nothing to worry about.

If one good thing emerged from the Stefon Diggs saga staged last week at Buffalo Bills minicamp, it's that his temporary absence stole headlines from another.

Tight end Dawson Knox was mostly sidelined during the latter stages of final spring activities, seen with his leg wrapped after he was involved in what Heather Prusak of WIVB-TV described as "a collision." Knox appeared to have no issues moving around in a video from Prusak but it was perhaps nonetheless alarming for Bills fans perhaps worried that further issues awaited the tight end after he struggled in the first season after signing an expensive new contract.

Knox himself put such concerns to rest on Saturday when he hosted a youth camp at Nazareth College in Rochester.

"I'm good. (It was) very minor," Knox said with a smile when asked about his injury in a video from WHAM's Dan Fetes, who also noted that no wrapping appeared on his leg. "I'm good. You'll see me running around here! It'll show you I'm pretty good."

If Knox were to go down, the Bills would have a sense of insurance involved after drafting Dalton Kincaid with their premier first-round draft pick earlier this spring. But Knox has definitely established himself as one of the most essential Bills moving forward if only because of the big numbers attached to him.

This upcoming season will be Knox's first on a four-year, $52 million contract extension, the fifth-richest full tight end deal in the league. Knox put up 48 catches for 517 yards and six touchdowns last season, but those numbers were all coming off of the career-best paces he set in 2021.

The last thing Knox needed was another setback, but, if his word means anything, he'll be more than ready for when the Bills reconvene for training camp later this summer.
