DeAndre Hopkins Bills Trade? Buffalo GM Brandon Beane Talks Rumors

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane addressed the DeAndre Hopkins trade rumors at the NFL's annual meeting in Phoenix on Monday.

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane isn't flat out denying that the team has discussed a potential trade for Arizona Cardinals star receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

But safe to say he's quieting any noise on that front ... at least for now.

In an interview with Syracuse.com at the NFL's annual meeting in Phoenix, Beane hardly said no when asked about Hopkins, but is warning fans to not take their trade speculation "too far."

“What I would say is social media is social media," Beane said. "Don’t take that too far."

Beane may have unintentionally confirmed reports regarding Hopkins. saying that making one trade call blows things out of proportion. This is certainly true for the Bills-Hopkins speculation that continues to gain steam.

“Our name gets thrown in the hat on a lot of things that sometimes we’ve done one percent," Beane said. "One person made one call, and they’ve looped us in that we’re all over him and we’ve offered him a contract. It's funny sometimes."

However, while also mentioning Odell Beckahm Jr. by name, Beane made it clear that's it hard to rule out anything for a Bills team still looking for that major addition on offense this offseason.

“But again, when we’ve talked about OBJ, we’re always going to look for talent," Beane said. "And so we’re going to look at anything and everything.”

During Arizona's abysmal 4-13 finish this past season, Hopkins still finished as the team's leader in receiving yards (717) despite missing the first six games due to a PED suspension. But despite that, reports have indicated that the Cardinals still plan on trading Hopkins at some point this offseason.

Buffalo certainly seems to be one of the sexier suitors for Hopkins, but sexiness and Madden-like trade ideas don't necessarily win you Super Bowls. The Bills and Beane realize this and likely won't make any unnecessary risks, especially considering the grueling playoff disappointment from the past few seasons.
