Bills Miss Out on Bijan Robinson, But Draft Next Best RB in Latest Mock
The Buffalo Bills are an offensive juggernaut and when they're firing on all cylinders look impossible to stop. However, the Bills do have one area of improvement on offense this season, and that is a need to improve in the run game.
The Bills averaged 131.3 yards per game on the ground this past season, but if you take out quarterback Josh Allen's 762 rushing yards, that plummets to a mere 86.5 yards per game.
As such, ESPN's Todd McShay has the Bills taking a running back with their first-round pick in his latest mock draft.
Rd. 1 No. 27 - Jahmyr Gibbs - RB (Alabama)
Gibbs' vision and shiftiness are outstanding, as he can string together multiple cuts to find daylight. The Bills could team him up with James Cook and Nyheim Hines to form a solid backfield and complement what quarterback Josh Allen does when he tucks and runs.
With Singletary being an unrestricted free agent, the Bills could opt for a running back in the draft, which they've been linked to several times. After all, their running backs only ran for 1,418 yards and eight touchdowns combined.
In his final season at Alabama, Gibbs ran for 926 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 6.1 yards per carry. He was also electric in the passing game, recording 44 receptions for 444 yards and three touchdowns.
The Bills may have greater holes to fix with this pick come April, and Gibbs may very well be a luxury selection. However, they do need to improve the running back room, as doing so will lessen the wear and tear on their superstar quarterback.
Adding Gibbs to the mix could alleviate both of those problems, while potentially opening up the offense even further.
