Bills Sign OT Germain Ifedi After Roster Cuts
The Buffalo Bills are adding some veteran experience to their 53-man roster after making final cuts on Tuesday.
Per reports from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Bills are expected to sign journeyman offensive tackle Germain Ifedi to a contract after he visited with the team on Tuesday. Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 confirmed Wednesday that the Bills are officially signing Ifedi.
The Bills lost backup left tackle Tommy Doyle for the season after he suffered an injury against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the preseason on Aug. 19. Ifedi now joins the roster looking to provide depth.
Ifedi, who was the No. 31 overall pick out of Texas A&M by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2016 NFL Draft, has made 83 starts in his career while playing for multiple teams and lining up at both the guard and tackle spots. Along with the Seahawks, he's played with the Chicago Bears and Atlanta Falcons. He appeared in all 17 games for the Falcons last year, his only season with the team.
During his four seasons with the Seahawks, Ifedi started all 60 games he appeared in. Up until the 2020 season, he played 100 percent of the offensive snaps for games he was active in, showing how much coaching staffs valued his blocking ability. Overall, Ifedi has a wealth of experience with 5,934 career snaps on both offense and special teams combined.
He could be a part of the Bills' o-line rotation as soon as Week 1 against the New York Jets on Monday, Sept. 11.
