BREAKING: Bills Promote LBs Coach Bobby Babich To Defensive Coordinator
The Buffalo Bills have found their new defensive coordinator.
NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Bills have promoted linebackers coach Boby Babich to defensive coordinator. Babich has been with the Bills since 2017 in multiple coaching roles.
Babich, 40, began as the safeties and assistant defensive backs coach in 2017 before solely becoming the safeties coach from 2018-2021. From there, he was moved to linebackers coach in 2022 and held the position for two seasons.
As the linebackers coach, Babich was instrumental in the development of Terrel Bernard. In his first season as captain of the defense, Bernard had 143 tackles, 6.5 sacks and three interceptions.

Babich's promotion comes on the heels of him getting requests to interview for defensive coordinator vacancies with the New York Giants, Green Bay Packers and Miami Dolphins. Whether or not he'll become the defensive playcaller remains to be seen, as head coach Sean McDermott held that role in 2023.
Buffalo also reportedly interviewed Sean Desai for its defensive coordinator vacancy.
