Bills Ex Isaiah McKenzie Signs with Colts

The Buffalo Bills cut Isaiah McKenzie on Friday, creating $2.17 million in additional cap space

The Buffalo Bills have seen some major roster turnover to start this offseason, parting ways with familiar faces and bringing aboard many new ones.

And on Tuesday, former Bills receiver Isaiah McKenzie began a new journey as well by signing with the Indianapolis Colts, his agency told ESPN.

The terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.

Buffalo cut McKenzie on Friday, creating $2.17 million in additional cap space. He was due a roster bonus on Friday that would've paid him $250,000, which is why Buffalo had to move fast, so his dead money didn't rise up from $300,000.

McKenzie had a career year in 2022, recording 423 yards and 4 touchdowns on 42 receptions out of the slot. The Bills have now deemed that not good enough as they look to add more play-makers around an offense that already features quarterback Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs.

McKenzie will now join a rebuilding Colts team that still doesn't have a QB1 headed into the 2023 season. After having the luxury of Allen throwing to him, McKenzie could now have a rookie signal-caller to grow with while being the third or fourth receiving option for the team.

The Bills have already filled the depth void left by McKenzie at receiver, as they signed former New Orleans Saints receiver/returner Deonte Harty on Wednesday and former Miami Dolphins speedster Trent Sherfield on Monday.
