Bills BREAKING: Jordan Poyer Signing With Dolphins in Free Agency
One of the Buffalo Bills' longtime leaders on their defense has found a new home, and he won't be going far out of the division.
Former Bills safety Jordan Poyer has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins, according to ESPN Insider Adam Schefter. The Dolphins also reportedly signed pass rusher Shaq Barrett on Tuesday.
The Bills cut Poyer on Friday ahead of the cap crunch, as they were set to enter free agency over the cap. Poyer was cut alongside center Mitch Morse, cornerbacks Siran Neal and Tre'Davious White, running back Nyheim Hines and receiver Deonte Harty.
He's also the latest former Bill to find a new home. Outside linebacker Leonard Floyd has reportedly agreed to a two-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers and receiver Gabe Davis has agreed to a three-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Bills Signing Eagles LB to One-Year Deal
Since signing with the Bills in 2017, Poyer was one of the better safeties in football for the bulk of his tenure in Orchard Park. Across seven seasons with Buffalo, he accumulated 22 interceptions, 48 passes defended, eight forced fumbles, 11 sacks and 682 tackles. His production took a slight dip in 2023, as he didn't register a single interception and only forced one fumble. Poyer had 100 tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss and two quarterback hits last season.
Poyer had been one of the more beloved Bills, as he helped change the culture when he signed with the franchise in 2017 and went to Buffalo alongside safety Micah Hyde and head coach Sean McDermott. That love will subside whenever he's on the opposite sideline when the Bills play the Dolphins at least twice next season, though his impact will still be remembered as being an important part in helping turn the Bills into a perennial playoff team.
