MVP Betting Odds: Bills QB Josh Allen an Early Favorite?
With the complete 2023 NFL Schedule now released, it's a good time to revisit some of the projections and betting odds for the Super Bowl and the league's biggest award races. Entering another season with championship expectations, the Buffalo Bills are naturally in the mix when it comes to betting on either individual and team success.
And they have quarterback Josh Allen to thank, who currently has the Bills in a three-way tie for the second-best Super Bowl odds in the league (+800), per SI Sportsbook. This trails only the defending champ Kansas City Chiefs (+550), while the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers are tied with Buffalo.
But reaching the football mountaintop - as Bills linebacker Von Miller has called it - would likely require a career-best effort from Allen. His success goes hand-in-hand with that of Buffalo's. So naturally, he's one of the betting leaders for the MVP as well.
SI Sportsbook currently gives Allen the third-best odds (+750), which trails only Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (+650) and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (+700).
Seeing these names at the top of the list is hardly surprising, as Mahomes, Burrow and Allen have become three top faces of the NFL while headlining a loaded AFC. Though it's easy to see Mahomes as the favorite, anything can happen, as Burrow and Allen are likely at or near the peak of their careers as well.
The competition between this trio of stars throughout the upcoming season will be something to keep close watch of. Allen will get a shot to go face off with both guys, as the Bills will visit the Bengals on Sunday, Nov. 5 before traveling to Arrowhead to play the Chiefs on Sunday, Dec. 10.
