NFL Week 1 Odds: Bills Favored on Road vs. Jets, Aaron Rodgers?

Despite the hype surrounding four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers' arrival in New York, oddsmakers favor the Buffalo Bills in the marquee Monday Night Football opener.

Buffalo Bills 24, New York Jets 23?

While that's a result Bills Mafia would certainly be willing to embrace come Sept. 11, it's also approximately what the oddsmakers predict when the teams kick-off their seasons in an intriguing Monday Night Football matchup.

One of the highlights of Thursday night's NFL schedule release was the unveiling of the Week 1 showdown between the AFC East powers at MetLife Stadium. Four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers and his new team, immediately attempting to prove they are a legitimate threat to a Bills squad that has owned the division since Tom Brady departed the New England Patriots in 2020.

In the wake of the release, various sports betting sites have posted odds for all Week 1 games and the Bills-Jets matchup is one of the most narrow spreads. The Bills are generally favored by 1-2 points, with an over/under of 47-48.

While Rodgers' presence certainly adds a dynamic dimension to the division, an opening-night victory on his home field would go a long way toward dampening New York's effusive optimism while reminding the AFC East who the favorites are.

Though the Bills split games with the Jets last season, they have won five of six in the series back to 2020. In 2022 Buffalo blew a 14-3 lead on the road in November, losing 20-17 on a Greg Zuerlein field goal in the final two minutes. The Bills exacted revenge a month later, building a 20-7 lead behind a touchdown run and pass by Josh Allen at Highmark Stadium.
