Bills WATCH: Josh Allen Makes One-Handed Catch In Practice
Buffalo Bills signal-caller Josh Allen has established himself as one of the best Swiss Army Knife-type quarterbacks in the game. He can pass, he can run, and apparently, he can catch as well.
While Allen has just one career reception, he has been working on his receiving skills somewhat regularly in practice. On Wednesday, the star quarterback decided to show off a bit with an impressive one-handed grab that would make Odell Beckham Jr. proud.
To make it even stranger, the one throwing Allen that pass was none other than Bills safety Micah Hyde. As hard as it may be to believe, Hyde does have experience under center and even played the position in high school. In fact, Hyde threw for nearly 8,000 yards and 65 touchdowns at Fostoria High School in Ohio, and he holds the school record for passing touchdowns. Once he got to college, he shifted to being a full-time defensive back for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Believe it or not, this isn't the first time this offseason that Hyde and Allen have played pitch and catch. Just before the season, the two ran a similar play in practice on Sept. 6, albeit with a much less acrobatic catch from Allen.
As fun as the Hyde-Allen connection is, it's extremely unlikely fans will see it in anything resembling an actual game. It should go without saying, but putting a safety in to throw to a quarterback is typically not a winning strategy.
Still, this connection has lasted throughout the offseason, and with any luck, Allen and Hyde will continue to play some friendly pitch and catch in practices.
