Bills Sign Ex Lions OL Kevin Jarvis to Deal

The Buffalo Bills made a depth addition to their offensive line on Friday.

No, the Buffalo Bills didn't make a huge trade for DeAndre Hopkins or strike a deal with the Los Angeles Chargers in a sign-and-trade to get disgruntled star running back Austin Ekeler.

But the Bills did make a depth addition to their offensive line on Friday, as the team announced the signing of former Detroit Lions offensive lineman Kevin Jarvis to a one-year deal.

The exact terms of the deal were not revealed.

Jarvis' journey to this point is an impressive one. He went undrafted out of Michigan State in 2022 after five years in East Lansing. During his time with the Spartans, the team went 37-22, winning three bowl games and finishing with two double-digit win seasons.

However, despite joining the Lions as an undrafted free agent in 2022, the team waived him on Aug. 30 prior to the start of the season. Detroit would go on to finish fourth in the league in offensive yards per game (380) while barely missing the playoffs with a 9-8 record.

But Jarvis now finds himself on an AFC contender in the Bills, who can use no shortage of offensive line depth. Buffalo maintains a solid, but aging o-line group that was inconsistent at times toward the end of last season.

Adding a younger guy in Jarvis who has tons of experience at the collegiate level could prove to hold some value during the season, especially when injuries come in to play. Jarvis will now have to prove he's deserving of making the 53-man roster during OTAs and preseason play.
