Bills Draft: 'Keep An Eye On' LBs Drew Sanders, Trenton Simpson
After losing two-time Pro Bowler and defensive leader Tremaine Edmunds to the Chicago Bears in free agency, the Buffalo Bills have a need at linebacker entering the 2023 NFL Draft.
But will Buffalo opt to address that need in the first round, or hold off and instead give quarterback Josh Allen a new pass catcher?
According to ESPN, should the Bills pursue a linebacker, Arkansas' Drew Sanders and Clemson's Trenton Simpson are "two prospects to keep an eye on" at No. 27 overall.
Both Sanders and Simpson have already visited Buffalo and are in the race to be the first off-ball linebacker to be selected.
However, per ESPN, the position has been "devalued," and the Bills would "like to give the players already on the roster a chance to fill the middle linebacker spot."
Thus, it's far from a guarantee the Bills address the hole left by Edmunds' departure in the opening frame.
ESPN revealed that Buffalo has "done a ton of homework on wide receivers in this class and could take one in the first round."
Among the more commonly linked names to the Bills include USC's Jordan Addison and Tennessee's Jalin Hyatt, who was recently in for a top-30 visit.
The hurdle to clear is that the last offensive player drafted by Buffalo was ... Allen, coming in 2018.
But there may be no better time than the present change that - and all of the "homework" that's been done could lead to a strong grade come draft night.
The event runs from Apr. 27-29 in Kansas City, Mo.
