Buffalo Bills Roll Past Miami Dolphins, Take AFC East Lead

The Buffalo Bills earned a statement victory on Sunday, defeating the previously-undefeated Miami Dolphins in a crucial divisional showdown.

The Buffalo Bills won their third consecutive game on Sunday and easily their biggest one of the season, walloping the previously unbeaten Miami Dolphins 48-20 at Highmark Stadium.

Coming into the game, the Dolphins' offense was the talk of the NFL after hanging 70 points on the Denver Broncos in Week 3. However, it was instead the Bills' offense stealing the show on Sunday, as Buffalo scored its most points in a single game since 2020.

Quarterback Josh Allen had one of the best performances of his career, and it couldn't have come at a better time. The sixth-year veteran slung the ball around with ease, completing 21 of 25 passes for 320 yards and four touchdowns for a perfect quarterback rating of 158.3. He even ran in a touchdown early in the fourth quarter to put an exclamation point on an emphatic victory.

Alongside Allen, receiver Stefon Diggs had an exceptional performance as well. The former All-Pro had six receptions for 120 yards and three touchdowns, tying his career-high in a single game. This also marks Diggs' third 100-yard game in four weeks this season. Fellow receiver Gabe Davis had a very impressive showing as well, catching three passes for 61 yards and a touchdown.

Just as impressive was the fact that the Bills' defense managed to keep the Dolphins' offense at bay, after it had been nearly unstoppable earlier in the season. Miami finished the game with 377 yards, a season-low, and struggled to find much of a rhythm after the first quarter. The Bills also forced two turnovers, first a fumble and then an interception.

Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa completed 24 of 34 passes for 266 yards, a touchdown and an interception. The Bills also managed to sack Tagovailoa three times after he was only sacked once in his first three games. Rookie running back De'Von Achane had a strong showing on the ground, though, racking up 101 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.

While the Bills left the game with an emphatic victory, they also suffered a bevy of unfortunate injuries. The most notable player to leave the game was cornerback Tre'Davious White, who left with a brutal-looking Achilles injury in the second half. Cornerback Christian Benford and receiver Khalil Shakir both left the game as well in the first half.

After moving to 3-1 on the season, the Bills now head across the pond for a date with the Jacksonville Jaguars at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Oct. 8.
