Bills BREAKING: Buffalo Trades DE Boogie Basham to Giants

Boogie Basham had 4.5 sacks in two seasons for the Buffalo Bills. … and now he’s been traded to the New York Giants.

The Buffalo Bills are trading defensive end Boogie Basham to the New York Giants.

The deal was first reported by NFL insider Tom Pelissero. He also reported that the teams are swapping late-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Buffalo drafted Basham in the second round with the No. 61 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. In Basham's two seasons with the Bills, he appeared in 23 games and had 4.5 sacks, five tackles-for-loss, eight quarterback hits and an interception.

The trade indicates Basham may have found himself on the outside looking in with the signing of Leonard Floyd and the emergence of A.J. Epenesa. It could also mean that Von Miller is close to making his return from a torn ACL.

Miller's health remains the biggest question mark for Buffalo's defense heading into this season. When healthy, he's the team's best pass rusher and adds another dimension to the defense. Even if he needs to have his workload managed to start the season, Miller potentially being healthy enough to play would be a huge development for the Bills.

Buffalo would have to activate Miller from the PUP by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, or he'll miss the first four games of the season.

Basham has a strong preseason for the Bills. He tallied one sack and a tackle-for-loss on Saturday in Buffalo's 24-21 win over the Chicago Bears. Basham also had a sack and tackle-for-loss on Aug. 12 against the Indianapolis Colts.

With Basham gone, Buffalo moves closer to having its roster down to 53 players, which they need to have finalized by 4 p.m. on Tuesday
