Bills Sign More to Practice Squad, Place 2 on IR

The Buffalo Bills finalized their initial 53-man roster on Tuesday, but there is still plenty of moving parts for the team to sort out before the start of the season.

Buffalo also officially announced that fifth-round rookie receiver Justin Shorter and linebacker Baylon Spector will be placed on short-term IR with hamstring injuries.

The Bills can have as many as 16 players on the practice squad this season. Here are the 14 guys that they've officially added so far:

  • DT Eli Ankou
  • WR Marcell Ateman
  • CB Kyron Brown
  • DE Kameron Cline
  • DL Richard Gouraige
  • CB Ja'Marcus Ingram
  • WR Andy Isabella
  • OL Kevin Jarvis
  • RB Ty Johnson
  • OL Greg Mancz
  • WR Tyrell Shavers
  • WR Bryan Thompson
  • DT Kendall Vickers
  • TE Joel Wilson

Buffalo is also reportedly signing former Houston Texans linebacker Christian Kirksey to the practice squad, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. He would be the 15th man on the practice squad. However, the team has not officially announced this move.

The Bills weren't able to retain their seventh-round draft picks from this past April, as rookie cornerback Alex Austin and rookie offensive lineman Nick Broeker were both claimed by the Houston Texans. Both players would have likely been signed back to the Bills' practice squad had they cleared waivers, but Buffalo instead had to watch two of its 2023 draft picks land with a new team.
