Buffalo Bills' Sean McDermott Has 'Fundamental' Plan vs. Miami Dolphins

"They've exposed people in a lot of ways in the run and the pass," Buffalo Bills coach Sean McDermott said. "So you try and be fundamentally sound in what you do."

The Buffalo Bills have quite the task on their hands this weekend when the undefeated Miami Dolphins come to town.

The Dolphins are fresh off a 70-20 win against the Denver Broncos in Week 3, marking the highest-scoring performance for an offense in 57 years. Now, the Bills will have to figure out a solution better than what the Broncos put together ... but coach Sean McDermott has a plan.

"They've exposed people in a lot of ways in the run and the pass," McDermott said. "So you try and be fundamentally sound in what you do. And I think that's the biggest thing is make sure we're getting off blocks, make sure we're tackling. I think that's the biggest thing you can do is emphasize the things that always come into play in a football game, and that's the fundamentals."

By doing the little things right, the Bills hope that it will make an impact when they have to do the big things right.

Buffalo's personnel has proven to be better than Denver's, and that was showcased in the team's Week 3 blowout win against the Washington Commanders. The Bills defense sacked quarterback Sam Howell nine times and picked him off four times, one of which ended in a touchdown.

It may be hard to register those numbers again this week against a better offense, but if the Bills stick to their fundamentals, they might be able to pull out a big divisional win.

The Dolphins and Bills are set to kickoff Sunday at 1 p.m. inside Highmark Stadium.
