Buffalo Bills Signing CB Josh Norman Amid Injuries
With injuries to their secondary, the Buffalo Bills are bringing back a former member of the team to help aid a bumped-and-bruised defense.
Per The Score's Jordan Schultz, the Bills are signing former All-Pro cornerback Josh Norman to a contract. The terms of the deal have not yet been released.
The news comes eight days after Bills veteran cornerback Tre'Davious White suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in a 48-20 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 4. The Bills are also dealing with some minor injuries in the secondary, as guys like Christian Benford, Jordan Poyer and Taron Johnson have gotten nicked up over the past two games, including in Sunday's 25-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.
Norman, who is best know for his time with the Carolina Panthers, played two games for Carolina last season but did not sign with a new team this offseason. The 35-year-old appeared in nine games during his only season with the Bills in 2020, but contributed in his short time in Orchard Park. He posted 24 total tackles, two fumble recoveries one forced fumble, one interception and one touchdown.
Originally a fifth-round pick by the Panthers in 2012, Norman rose to brief stardom by his fourth season in 2015. With MVP quarterback Cam Newton commanding the offense, Norman helped lead an elite defense on a Panthers team that finished that campaign as NFC Champions following a 15-1 regular season.
After posting 56 total tackles, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 18 passes defended and a career-high four interceptions, Norman was named a Pro Bowler and First Team All-Pro while finishing fourth in the Defensive Player of the Year voting.
The Bills host the New York Giants on Sunday night.
