Bills OTAs: Stefon Diggs Among Four Players Absent
The Buffalo Bills are without a few notable names for the start of offseason activities as OTAs continued in Orchard Park on Tuesday.
Per reports from WGR550, here are the four players who were absent:
- WR Stefon Diggs
- LB Matt Milano
- RB Latavius Murray
- OL Greg Mancz
Though headlined by the expected absence of Diggs - who didn't appear on Monday either - not seeing Milano comes as a bit of surprise along with the newly-signed Murray. Regardless, there appears to be nothing from stopping these guys from eventually getting back into the swing of things later this offseason.
Not seeing Diggs at the start of OTAs naturally raises some eyebrows, but there has been no reported issues regarding a contract dispute, trade request or locker room rift that would signal this is anything but a simple absence from voluntary workouts.
Bills star quarterback Josh Allen and linebacker Von Miller are the vocal leaders of the team, and made it clear that Diggs being gone hardly means there's any reason for concern.
"I just like to keep stuff simple, like we're talking about Stefon Diggs, one of the best receivers in the game," Miller said. "He's not going anywhere. ... He's not here right now but I don't think it should ever be a question is football number one on his mind."
Allen admitted he wished Diggs was here with the team, but looks at his absence as an opportunity for some of the younger receivers to get valuable reps in.
"This is voluntary," Allen said. "We'd love to have him here and I'd love to have him here. OTAs aren't for everybody. But you know, some of the guys are getting a lot of good work and maybe we wouldn't have gotten that if he is here right now. So I know those guys aren't taking that for granted."
The Bills will continue OTAs until June 8 before the start of mandatory minicamp on June 13.
