Bills Restructure Stefon Diggs Contract; OBJ Signing Incoming?

After restructuring the contracts of Josh Allen and Von Miller on Monday, the Buffalo Bills did the same with Stefon Diggs on Tuesday, creating even more cap space. Could the team have a big free agency splash planned?

The Buffalo Bills have restructured the contract of star receiver Stefon Diggs, per reports Tuesday from ESPN's Field Yates.

The Bills, which converted Diggs' base salary into a contract bonus, create an additional $5.4 million in cap space as a result. The move comes just a day after the Bills addressed the contracts of their other big stars, as the team restructured the contracts of quarterback Josh Allen and linebacker Von Miller to create a $32 million more in cap room.

Buffalo, which has made some smaller addition and re-signings since the start of the legal tampering period on Monday, seems to have something big planned in free agency given the timing of the moves.

It certainly begs the question ... could the Bills be preparing to sign Diggs' former Minnesota Vikings teammate and recently-released receiver Adam Thielen? Odell Beckham Jr. perhaps?

It's been no secret that the Bills need some help and depth and receiver, and clearly showed an interest in Beckham Jr. after attending his recent workout in Arizona. Thielen remains a realistic option, but there's been no reported traction on that front.

Even before the Bills restructured these three contracts, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport admitted the "buzz" on OBJ is growing and that the Bills are certainly in the mix.

"The buzz is starting to build on Odell,” Rapoport said. “We’ve heard the teams that were interested in him last year including the Buffalo Bills, including the Cowboys … I wouldn’t be surprised if those teams plus a couple others are in the mix.”

The Bills likely have more moves in store, and a sudden signing of Beckham Jr. might just be one of them. Time will tell if these rumors come to fruition for Buffalo.
