Bills Trolled by Titans in Stadium Rendering Reveal
(Artistic) shots fired.
The Tennessee Titans unveiled the first official renderings of their planned new stadium in Nashville this week. Projected to open in 2027 and seat about 62,000, the establishment will succeed Nissan Stadium as the home of the Titans with intentions to land hosting duties for the Super Bowl, College Football Playoff, NCAA Final Four, and Wrestlemania.
Many have praised the first official designs released by the team in a video but fans in Western New York might take offense to the Titans' vision: a closer look at one of the scoreboards in the rendering shows that the digitally inserted fans gathered at the stadium are enjoying a showdown against the Buffalo Bills ... one that the Titans lead 21-7.
The Bills have engaged in this kind of deviance before: the renderings of their own future stadium envisioned Bills Mafia taking in a one-sided match-up against the New York Jets. While it's perhaps surprising to see the Titans go beyond their own division to find a hypothetical opponent, there's no doubt that the Bills have gained some space in the minds of the Nashville faithful.
Though they play in different divisions, the Bills and Titans have faced off against each other in five consecutive regular seasons, a streak that is set to end this year. Each has also been a playoff mainstay. Buffalo has reached the postseason on five straight occasions, the second-longest streak in the NFL, while the Titans saw a three-year streak of their own come to an end last year. Buffalo won three of five games in that series, including a 41-7 nationally shellacking in Week 2 last season.
The Bills-Titans matchup, of course, is likely best known for its playoff stagings. Tennessee's run to Super Bowl XXXIV began with the "Music City Miracle," when Kevin Dyson's improbable kick return touchdown secured a last-minute victory in the AFC Wild Card round. That came seven years after the Bills defeated the Titans' prior identity, the Houston Oilers, in another Wild Card staging, one that saw Buffalo complete a 32-point comeback en route to a 41-38 victory.
In reality, the Bills will continue to play their home games at Highmark Stadium. Orchard Park will host its lone preseason game on Saturday afternoon when the Indianapolis Colts come to visit (1 p.m. ET, WIVB).
