Bills Rumors? Titans RB Derrick Henry Comments on Trade Gossip, 'Other Stuff'
The Buffalo Bills have been at the forefront of rumors circulating about the Tennessee Titans looking into trading Derrick Henry. Now, for the first time, Henry himself is addressing the gossip.
"When we get here, when we get to football,'' Henry said at the outside of the Titans minicamp this week, "we're not worried about that other stuff."
"That other stuff'' is about rumors and salaries and being cut and maybe a trade that would mark the end of a brilliant career for the 29-year-old superstar in Tennessee ... but mark the start of something big in his new city. The Bills continue to be included in rumors about adding a back - Dalvin Cook has moved to the "forefront'' there - just as GM Brandon Beane continues to suggest Buffalo wants to be thrifty when it comes to over-committed against the future cap.
Of course, right after he says that, next thing you know, the Bills are re-upping Ed Oliver and signing Leonard Floyd, so ...
New Titans general manager Ran Carthon, hired earlier this year, has made it clear he has no intention of moving on from the two-time NFL rushing champ, who at 6-3 and 250 pounds remains essentially a perennial 1,500-yard rusher - and who consistently makes the Bills pay whenever he faces them. Henry has now met with Carthon and suggests he's gained a comfort level there.
"Talking to (Carthon), meeting him in person," Henry said, "I've put a face with the name.''
And maybe that's good enough for the three-time Pro Bowler to stick with the Titans ... and for rumors about the Bills adding a running back to focus on the next name up.
