Bills WATCH: Josh Allen Builds Lead vs. Raiders with TD to Khalil Shakir
The Buffalo Bills ended the first half of Sunday's meeting with the Las Vegas Raiders at Highmark Stadium clicking on offense.
Already with a 14-10 lead in the closing minutes of the half, quarterback Josh Allen was looking to cap off a near-perfect performance through the first two quarters with a score. He did just that after connecting with second-year receiver Khalil Shakir for an 11-yard touchdown with 18 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
Take a look:
The touchdown, which was scored despite Allen facing pressure in the pocket, was Shakir's first catch of the season.
If the Bills offense is going to continue to open up, it'll be up to Gabe Davis as WR2 and whoever the third starting receiver is. If that player is Shakir, his ability out of the slot could be huge for the team. This could potentially put him in the territory of having a breakout season, and coach Sean McDermott "loved" what he saw during the offseason.
"The thing I love about Khalil is he's so consistent from his personality to a performance standpoint," McDermott said Monday. "And you saw it in the stadium where people forgot about him and then he showed up. That's due to his consistency."
Last season, Shakir finished with 10 catches for 161 yards and one touchdown. He emerged late in the year with solid performances in Buffalo's pair of postseason games.
The Bills will look to add on to the score as they currently lead the Raiders 28-10 with the fourth quarter approaching.
