Bills Players React to Buffalo Blizzard as Playoff Game Gets Postponed: ‘Insanity!’
The Buffalo Bills saw their home playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers postponed until Monday (and possibly later) after a blizzard devoured much of Western New York. The announcement shrouded may have sparked controversy, but videos from Buffalo have made it clear: this snow is no joke.
After storms rendered neighborhoods immobile and partly inaccessible to emergency workers, there was no choice but to postpone the game. Thousands clogging the already slow-moving streets in an attempt to get to and from Highlight Park is a recipe for disaster and one that will be at least mitigated by the postponement.
As a result, the Bills have themselves a snow day of sorts. Some took to social media to comment on the blizzard.
Veteran cornerback Josh Norman posted two stories to his Instagram, his words muffled by the blistering wind as he showed the season outside of his home.
“Insanity!” Norman wrote. “We not at the North Pole!”
Backup tight end Quintin Morris also chimed in, seemingly from a Buffalo parking lot.
“Respectfully this ain’t football weather,” Morris wrote. “This is just a mess.”
Like Norman, Morris’ video captured the mounting heaps of snow, along with the wind that only added to the lack of visibility. The background, save for the outline of some trees, is just white.
The postponement raised questions about “football weather” and what it should take to relocate or reschedule games. The Kansas City Chiefs won on Saturday, in a game played at its scheduled time despite near-record-setting temperatures. Kansas City wasn’t under a travel ban, like Buffalo is, so the game went on as regularly programmed, though the cold left a mark on the 26-7 Chiefs win.
Go Play Outside! Bills-Steelers Postponement Strengthens Case For Outdoor Stadiums
As the Bills await further news on the fate of their Wild Card matchups, logistical questions loom. Will the winner be forced to play a short week going into a playoff game? Will that, too, be postponed?
For now, it seems all they can do is stay warm or enjoy the snow as the news continues to develop.
