Ed Oliver Among Three Buffalo Bills Fined

Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver, defensive end A.J. Epenesa and linebacker Tyler Matakevich received fines from the NFL on Saturday.

The Buffalo Bills will be paying the bills after the NFL handed out its latest round of fines on Saturday.

Three Bills players were hit with fines stemming from Sunday's loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, but none more so than defensive tackle Ed Oliver, who received two separate fines. The first fine of $16,391 came from a hit on Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence after a Jacksonville touchdown mid-way through the first quarter. Meanwhile, the second fine of $13,659 was a result of unsportsmanlike conduct late in the first quarter, although he was not flagged for either play. Altogether, Oliver lost $30,050 in fines from this game.

Unfortunately for Oliver, this marks the second straight week the league has handed him two separate fines. Last week, the NFL gave Oliver two separate fines of $13,659, both for unsportsmanlike conduct during the Bills win over the Miami Dolphins on Oct. 1.

Oliver wasn't the only Bills defender hit by the discipline hammer on Saturday, as two more received fines as well. Defensive end A.J. Epenesa, who had a monster game with two sacks, three passes defended and a fumble recovery, received a fine of $21,855 for a hit on Lawrence, although there was no penalty on the play. Epenesa received the largest individual fine of any player from Week 5.

Linebacker Tyler Matakevich was the third and final Bill to receive a fine, losing $10,181 for an illegal block in the back on a punt return.

One Jaguar was also fined on Saturday, that defensive end linebacker Jeremiah Ledbetter. Ledbetter was flagged for roughing the passer late in the fourth quarter, but he received a relatively meager fine of just $5,611.

The Bills hope to bounce back from their loss to the Jaguars when they host the New York Giants on Sunday night, while hopefully taking better care of their wallets.
