Josh Allen Trade ‘Rumor’: New York Giants Media Suggests Buffalo Bills Nonsensical Blockbuster

How much turmoil clouds the present and future of the Super Bowl-hopeful Buffalo Bills after falling to 5-5 on the season?

So much that down in The Big Apple, they’re trying to figure out how the New York Giants can trade for Josh Allen.

Evan Roberts of WFAN's “Evan and Tiki” is suggesting that the Bills could choose to trade Allen to the Giants … thus maybe curing all ills with both football programs.

Roberts says that if the Bills continue to go south, the Giants - who are 2-8 and already “south” - make a lot of sense for Allen in a potential trade.

The trade idea itself? The Bills get two first-round picks - one of which could end up being the No. 1 selection in April’s NFL Draft.

The reasoning, such as it is? Allen has a relationship with Giants coach Brian Daboll. The Giants would rebuild with Allen. The Bills would theoretically win long-term after being able to draft another quarterback. … say, USC’s Caleb Williams.

What does the “report” not clear up? The Giants still need to pay QB Daniel Jones a fortune; what happens to him? What are the cap ramifications of the Bills saying goodbye to Allen? If we view Allen as being part of Buffalo’s “open window” of opportunity now, how long would it take for a rookie QB to lead them back to a new window?

And the big one when it comes to speculative ideas like this that haven’t been thought-through in a serious-minded way: If, say, Caleb Williams is destined to become better than the turnover-plagued Josh Allen (a view that has to be part of this) … why wouldn’t the Giants simply keep their picks and save their money and draft, say, Caleb Williams for themselves?
