WATCH: Josh Allen Rushing Touchdown Gives Buffalo Bills Lead Over Los Angeles Chargers

Josh Allen finished off an eight-play drive with a rushing touchdown, giving the Buffalo Bills a late-first-half lead over the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Los Angeles Chargers gave the Buffalo Bills a bit of a scare, jumping out to a 10-0 lead in what looked like a trap game for a quarter.

Buffalo battled back, scoring on a long Gabe Davis touchdown and finishing the half with a score. Quarterback Josh Allen capped off the Bills’ final drive of the half with a two-yard rushing touchdown.

The score gave Buffalo a 14-10 lead, quickly shifting momentum and putting its playoff aspirations back on track.

The run was Allen’s second of the game, bringing his rushing yardage total to eight on the night and pushing him over 400 on the season. It was also his 12th rushing touchdown of the season.

His two touchdowns from the first half put him one score away from 40 total on the season—Allen would be the first to accomplish that feat in four consecutive seasons.

In all, Allen has completed seven of 11 attempts for 124 yards. He is yet to be sacked or intercepted. Playing that safe brand of football is to be expected against a beleaguered Chargers team with a backup quarterback under center. While Los Angeles’ secondary can be exploited, the run game is working and will likely be leaned on in the second half.

Running back James Cook ran eight times for 37 yards, and veteran Leonard Fournette made his season debut with three attempts in the first half.

Avoiding disaster was more difficult than initially anticipated, but with their feet under them, the Bills got things back on track. Expect Allen to add to his MVP campaign and extend the lead as the second half gets underway.
