Report: Broncos Hire Ex-Saints Strength Coach Dan Dalrymple
As Sean Payton hems and haws over his offensive and defensive coordinators, the Denver Broncos head coach has seemingly decided on his new strength and conditioning chief.
Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reported Monday that former longtime Saints assistant Dan Dalrymple is set to reunite with Payton in the Mile High City.
A graduate of Miami (Ohio), Dalrymple spent 18 years as the Redhawks' director of athletic conditioning before leaping to the NFL. In 2006, he was hired as the Saints' head S&C coach, a post he held until 2022 — the entirety of Payton's tenure.
During the Saints' Super Bowl XLIV run, Dalrymple was named the Cybex Professional Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year and the Samson Strength and Conditioning NFL Coach of the Year.
"The efforts of Dalrymple and his staff have played a key role in the club's success over the past 15 seasons," reads his biography. "His routines, focused on building and maintaining strength and stamina while minimizing injuries, have paid dividends for the Saints. Since 2006, New Orleans has put together 18 winning streaks of three games or more, including a franchise-record 13-game win streak in 2009, a 10-game run in 2018 and nine straight wins in 2020 en route to their fourth consecutive NFC South title. Twenty-seven players have been selected to the Pro Bowl during his tenure, 20 for the first time in their NFL careers."
Dalrymple replaces former Broncos S&C boss Loren Landow, dismissed earlier this month after five seasons with the organization. He becomes the third ex-Saints staffer to join Payton, who's also hired Zach Strief as offensive line coach and Declan Doyle as tight ends coach.
