Broncos' Top 2023 Draft Pick Set to Debut in San Francisco
While Denver Broncos fans are excited about the prospect of seeing running back Javonte Williams on the football field after his grievous injury, another high-profile player is set to make his 2023 debut on Saturday night.
In the Broncos' second preseason game vs. the San Francisco 49ers, rookie wide receiver Marvin Mims, Jr. is expected to play. Outside of a few open-to-the-public practices at training camp, Broncos fans haven't collectively been able to glimpse Mims' talent on the field quite yet.
That changes on Saturday night.
“Yeah. He’s had a good week, so he’ll play," Broncos head coach Sean Payton said of Mims on Thursday. "I think he’s had a really good week. He’s healthy.”
Mims has dealt with a nagging hamstring injury throughout much of training camp. It kept him out of preseason Game 1, too.
However, there's much the former Oklahoma start can do to improve the Broncos' offensive outlook. A superstar Texas prep athlete, the Broncos traded up in the second round to draft Mims.

He brings 4.38 speed to the table for a Broncos offense that lost its fastest receiver when KJ Hamler was waived/injured to open camp. Considering Russell Wilson's propensity for the deep ball, Mims figures to be strategically featured in Payton's offense as a rookie.
Get ready to see the Broncos' top draft pick of 2023 when the Niners game kicks at 6:30 MDT Saturday night.
