Broncos OT Calvin Anderson Confirms Departure to Patriots

Anderson became expendable after Denver landed new RT Mike McGlinchey.

Denver Broncos free-agent offensive tackle Calvin Anderson agreed to a two-year contract with the New England Patriots on Tuesday, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported.

Anderson has since confirmed the deal via his Twitter account.

"To #PatsNation I remember signing with you after the draft!" he tweeted. "Everything come full circle, and I can’t wait to give you everything I have and more.   Not much for me to say, but a lot for me to do. Let’s work"

Undrafted in 2019, Anderson, 27, indeed had cups of coffee with the Patriots and New York Jets before surfacing in the Mile High City. The Texas product was mothballed as a rookie but made all 16 appearances during his sophomore campaign. He started seven games for the Broncos last year as injuries ravaged the offensive line.

With experience and versatility — the ability to play both tackle positions — Anderson is a valuable swing blocker who became expendable after Denver inked new RT Mike McGlinchey to an $87.5 million pact Monday. The team is also expected to return incumbent LT Garett Bolles in 2023.

"To #BroncosCountry Thank you so much for embracing me," Anderson tweeted. "I’ve always been counted out, but you gave me a chance to flourish and develop myself as a player. I’m forever grateful to George Paton, Mike Munchak, and so many others. I will always be proud of my time as a Bronco."
