Report: Former DL Shelby Harris Visits Broncos
Even before Eyioma Uwazurike was indefinitely suspended for violating the NFL's gambling policy, the Denver Broncos were a bit thin on the defensive line. With a big hole created on the D-line depth chart, the Broncos are feeling an even greater sense of urgency to fill it.
How about reuniting with long-time Bronco Shelby Harris? 9NEWS' Mike Klis reported over the weekend that Harris will visit the Broncos, but "that's it for now."
Shelby Harris, an old friend, would fit the Broncos' need. Harris, who turns 32 in two weeks, visited with his former team Friday.
As of now, the Broncos interest in Harris is exploratory.
Harris played five seasons in Denver, and under then-head coach Vance Joseph, he cracked into the starting lineup and salvaged his career. Joseph has now returned to the Mile High City as defensive coordinator, so a Harris reunion makes sense.
Of all the free-agent options on the market currently, Harris stands out as a top option. Harris was dealt last year to Seattle as part of the Russell Wilson trade, but after one season, the Seahawks moved on.
Don't be surprised if Denver rekindles its relationship with 31-year-old Harris, who totaled 21 sacks in five seasons as a Bronco. Stay tuned.
