Baker Mayfield Gives Tampa Bay Buccaneers Organization Major Praise

Buccaneers' QB Baker Mayfield praised the organization during an appearance on the Pat McAfee show.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield made his way to Dallas, Texas this weekend for the annual Red River Rivalry between his collegiate team the Oklahoma Sooners, and the Texas Longhorns.

Mayfield was selected as College Gameday's guest picker for the matchup, but prior to the Saturday festivities, Baker stopped by the Pat McAfee Show to discuss a number of things with a ton of attention being paid to how he is doing through the resurrection of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“I’m loving it,” Mayfield said. “I think that’s an understatement. It’s a great organization the people are great, they know how to win — they know it’s all about winning.”

The Buccaneers organization has come a long way. As a small market team, it's important to establish a winning culture and that is exactly what the Glazers and Jason Licht have accomplished over the past five seasons or so - making Tampa Bay a desirable location for free agents and the like.

Mayfield continued by comparing the Buccaneers to his time with the Sooners in Norman, Oklahoma before capping it off by talking about the two "studs" that he has at wide receiver in Chris Godwin and Mike Evans.

“I’m having fun again. I was telling people, it kind of reminds me, back at Oklahoma,” Mayfield said. “Get the best guys on the field, all about football, no BS, and let’s just get after it.”

“Those guys are studs, two of the best to ever do it,” Mayfield said. “Just seeing them in person, they’re so much fun to watch.”

The Oklahoma Sooners are one of the premier brands in all of college football and have shown over decades that they know what they are doing from an organizational perspective so being compared to a program like OU should only bode well for the Buccaneers in the eyes of the league.

Mayfield has been great thus far into the season and the Buccaneers are following his lead. The team had a bye week in week five and will return to the field in week six when they host the visiting Detroit Lions.
