Buccaneers DE Logan Hall 'Did Not Stand Out' in Rookie Season

Analyzing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' rookie class, NFL.com is not impressed with their first pick from the 2022 draft.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers disappointed many fans and media - especially those who spent the evening at the team facility - when they ultimately decided to trade out of the first round, choosing not to take a player on Day 1 of the 2022 NFL Draft.

When they did pick, however, they chose Houston Cougars edge defender Logan Hall, a move that was widely praised at the time.

After a less-than-stellar rookie showing many are disappointed and looking again to address the defensive line in either free agency or the draft, or both.

That disappointment extends to the league's own media site as well.

"Logan Hall did not live up to expectations as the first pick of Round 2, struggling mightily against the run in particular," says NFL.com. "He was a bit better as a rotational pass rusher, recording 2.5 sacks and 12 tackles (five for loss). With more playing time, he could improve, but the No. 33 overall pick did not stand out in his first pro campaign."

Overall, the Bucs' rookie class this year ranked 21st in the NFL, and came in second to last among NFC South Division teams.

Only the Carolina Panthers' class featuring sixth overall pick offensive tackle Ikem Ekwonu ranked worse in the division while No. 8 pick receiver Drake London and the Atlanta Falcons finished atop the group at No. 9 overall.

But it wasn't all bad for the Buccaneers.

"It took the Buccaneers half of a season before realizing Rachaad White was their best option at running back," NFL.com said. "White was a viable weapon in the run and pass game, finishing with 771 yards from scrimmage and three total touchdowns. He's the bright spot in this class."

Tight end Cade Otton got some praise, despite having to be part of replacing future Hall of Famer Rob Gronkowski, as did punter Jake Camarda.
