Detroit Lions' HC Dan Campbell on Bucs' QB Baker Mayfield: "I Got A Lot of Respect For Him"

Detroit Lions' head coach Dan Campbell had some strong praise for Buccaneers' quarterback Baker Mayfield ahead of the NFC Divisional round matchup.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off a master-class performance against the reigning Super Bowl runner-ups the Philadelphia Eagles in which the Bucs' defense held the Eagles to single digits and the offense saw explosive plays with three of them going for touchdowns from Baker Mayfield.

The 32-9 victory secured the Bucs a spot in the Divisional round of the playoffs, set to make the trip to Detroit to take on the Lions who just won their first playoff game in decades.

A large success of the Detroit Lions can be attributed to head coach Dan Campbell who has taken a team that had nothing to fight for into a Super Bowl contender.

During his most recent visit with the Detroit media, Campbell spoke on the Buccaneers - particularly QB Baker Mayfield - in which he gave the former Sooner quarterback his flowers.

"You can tell he’s the captain of that ship," Campbell said. "And he’s exactly what I think everybody loved when he was coming out of Oklahoma. That’s what you see right now: He’s a free spirit and he’s going to find a way to make plays. He’s going to will his team into moving the football and keeping 'em in it and finding a way to win, so I got a lot of respect for him. He’s tough as nails and man, he’s playing at a high level right now."

Lion's head coach nails it right on the head when speaking about Mayfield and he knows that he will see the best out of him when the team takes the field on Sunday afternoon.
