Former Buccaneers Wide Receiver An Option For Teams Following DeAndre Hopkins' Signing

The former Buccaneer could be a backup option for the teams who were previously pursuing DeAndre Hopkins.

One of the biggest names left on the free agent market is now spoken for. Last week, standout veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins made his decision on his new home after coming to terms with the Tennessee Titans on a two-year contract - joining Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry in Nashville.

The Titans were in dire need of help at the wide receiver position, let's not forget their blunder with the A.J. Brown situation, and now seemingly have found "their guy" at least for the next couple of seasons.

With the Titans snagging Hopkins, the other teams that were involved in the sweepstakes, the Chiefs, Bills, and Patriots will now have to look elsewhere and one name that each team could potentially look to to help add some depth and experience to their WR room is former Buccaneers' wide receiver Julio Jones.

The top name in the free agent market for wide receivers is possibly Kenny Golladay, but after his stint with the New York Giants, he may be an afterthought for most teams.

Enter Julio Jones.

Jones is a veteran former superstar in the NFL. He not only will bring a veteran presence in the locker room, but his abilities on the field have been second to none, and could be an example for younger wide receivers trying to develop their game.

The understanding with signing Jones is that he is a shell of the monster we saw during his time with the Atlanta Falcons. Last season, Jones fought injuries throughout the campaign and was only able to muster 24 catches for 299 yards and 2 touchdowns in 10 games. Albeit, the seven-time Pro Bowler was playing behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin more was expected after a subpar time with the Titans.

Jones is a big-bodied WR who has tremendous ball-tracking skills to go up and grab whatever ball is thrown his way. His football IQ is beyond the average player and if a team is willing to take a chance on his declining production mixed with injury issues they could possibly be getting a diamond in the rough with one the best receivers to ever play the game.
