Mac Jones Shopped By Patriots to Potentially Land in Tampa Bay
There has been recent speculation growing that there is some tension in Foxborough, Massachusetts. According to NFL insider Mike Florio, there is some disconnect between New England Patriots' head coach, Bill Belichick, and starting quarterback, Mac Jones.
With things looking to not be going so well in New England, Florio has spoken with sources surrounding the situation and it seems as if Bill Belichick has shopped his starting quarterback to multiple teams during the 2023 NFL offseason - including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Among the Buccaneers, the other teams mentioned as a potential spot for Jones were the Las Vegas Raiders, Houston Texans, and Washington Commanders.
As for Patriots' owner Robert Kraft, he still stands with Jones as the quarterback for the team and is also a big fan of his.
“I’m a big fan of Mac,” Kraft told reporters last week. “He came to us as a rookie. He quarterbacked in his rookie season and did a very fine job I thought. We made the playoffs. I think we experimented with some things last year that frankly didn’t work when it came to him, in my opinion.”
Things are heating up in New England, but what about the possibility of Jones making his way to Tampa Bay?
It doesn't seem plausible at this point. The Buccaneers just recently signed veteran QB, Baker Mayfield to their squad to compete with Kyle Trask for the team's starting quarterback spot. Reaching out and getting rid of valuable draft capital or other players on the roster to acquire Jones wouldn't make sense as the team already is dealing with a dreadful salary cap situation.

The Buccaneers have been adamant about their plans for the upcoming season and Jones doesn't figure to be a part of that plan. The Bucs will however need to find a quarterback to fill out their quarterback room this offseason and could do that either in free agency or the upcoming NFL draft, but trading for a player like Jones doesn't make much sense at this time thanks to the recent cheap one-year deal with Baker Mayfield.
