The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are not rebuilding, and star wide receiver Mike Evans wants people to see that.

Since Tom Brady, the greatest quarterback of all time, retired, conversations of the team rebuilding have run rampant. Again, Evans is quick to assure fans that this isn't the case.

“Rebuilding? We are just trying to win right now,” Evans told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. “I don’t know why people don’t see that. Win the division, after that people can take care of themselves.”

Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask are the two quarterbacks in contention to assume the starting quarterback role from Brady. With all due respect to the two quarterbacks, following up Brady is a tall task.

In three seasons with the Buccaneers -- after an already illustrious career with the New England Patriots -- Brady made the postseason three times, including a Super Bowl in his first season with the team.

Now, the team had to go all in to equip Brady with a team capable of helping him achieve his seventh Super Bowl victory of his career.

With either Brady or Trask taking over the starting quarterback position, the team is short of assets and options to build a strong enough team around the two. Evans may find himself carrying a heavy load offensively, and this will help him finish his tenth consecutive season gaining more than 1,000 receiving yards.

Mayfield, who had the more compelling case between the two starting options in the first preseasons game, has turned into a journeyman in the NFL. He and Evans have a chance to climb to the top of the NFC South, but plenty would have to go right for the team.

The NFC South is the best of conferences, and the Buccaneers will be fighting for a chance to take the conference once again. As mentioned, plenty would have to go right, but it makes sense for the team to try and win as much as possible to reach postseason play.
