New Orleans Saints' Star Defends Mike Evans on Twitter

Slandering division rivals has become a common practice among many NFL fans. in the case of one rivalry, an unlikely name recently took exception to the disrespect.

It's not uncommon for the respective fanbases of the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers to clash on Twitter. In fact, it's become a daily ritual for many.

Which is why it wasn't all that surprising when a Twitter user — assumed by many to be a Saints fan — recently took aim at one of the most accomplished, and beloved members of the Buccaneers organization, Mike Evans.

What was surprising though, was the individual who chose to go out of his way to defend Mike Evans.

Cam Jordan, an 8-time Pro Bowler and 3-time All-Pro defensive end for the New Orleans Saints felt compelled to stand up for Evans, a player who is viewed by many Saints supporters as enemy number one.

To be clear, there have been countless attempts to slander Mike Evans on social media over the years, many of which have been far more toxic than the suggestion made by Twitter user, NkealGoat, in this instance.

Funny enough, based on his profile, this user isn't even a Saints fan.

But that didn't stop Cam Jordan from doubling down on his opinion when his initial take was called into question by members of Who Dat Nation.

Just like Evans is to the Saints, Cam Jordan has been a thorn in the side for the Buccaneers throughout his entire career. As is often the case when a player for a division rival has been so productive for such a sustained period of time.

That said, chances are — despite his track record of wreaking havoc on Buccaneers' quarterbacks over the past decade — Cam Jordan may have found a way to endear himself to at least a small portion of the Bucs' fanbase with this gesture of support for one of their own.

And despite the obvious disdain between these two franchises on the field, and their fans off of it, it's clear that at least during the offseason, Cam Jordan is willing to let bygones be bygones and give credit where credit is due.

Real recognize real, if you will.
