New York Jets Cancel Second Joint Practice With Buccaneers

After the Jets canceled one of their joint practices with the Bucs, Wednesday will serve as the only opportunity for the two teams to compete in practice prior to their preseason game on Saturday.

The 2023 New York Jets find themselves in an oddly familiar situation to that of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers just a few seasons ago.

Loaded with young talent on both sides of the ball, fresh off acquiring a future Hall of Fame quarterback, the New York Jets, despite a lack of recent playoff experience, are already facing boom-or-bust expectations for this year.

And if everything falls into place for the Jets, like it did for the Buccaneers in 2020, then the juice will have been well worth the squeeze.

On Wednesday, the Buccaneers will combine with the Jets for their first combined practice of the offseason. Which will be a valuable opportunity for Tampa Bay. Not only to see how they stack up against another team but more importantly, against another team that is loaded with talent.

This was supposed to be the first of two joint practices in New York between the two teams, however, the Jets canceled the second, making today's joint practice a stand-alone affair.

That said, one is better than none, as the Buccaneers will already be in town to face off against the Jets for their second preseason game of the year, which will take place on Saturday night.

Another interesting aspect of this joint practice is the fact that the Jets are currently filming for HBO's Hard Knocks, which for anyone who doesn't know, is a docu-series that provides behind-the-scenes footage of the Jets as they prepare for the upcoming season. As such, this is a bonus for Bucs fans because it's all but guaranteed that a number of Buccaneers players/coaches will make the cut when the show airs.

More importantly, though, this joint practice will provide the coaches with a valuable opportunity to assess their players in the heat of competition vs. new opponents.

Opponents who aren't their teammates.

We'll soon find out which players rose to the challenge.
