Rob Gronkowski Gives Joe Burrow Advice on Contract Extension: "Go Down the Brady Route"
Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers' tight end and future hall of famer, Rob Gronkowski, made an appearance on Kay Adams' show Up & Adams and gave advice to Cincinnati Bengals' quarterback Joe Burrow on what he should do with his upcoming contract extension - take a team-friendly deal to help build a competitive roster around you.
"You take a quarterback-friendly deal," Gronkowski said. "What's the difference between $40-47, 48 million or $53-54 million when the next highest guy on your team's only getting paid in the 20s? There's already that big of a difference between your pay and the next highest-paid guy on your team. So who cares?"
Recently, both Philadelphia Eagles' quarterback Jalen Hurts and Baltimore Ravens' quarterback Lamar Jackson signed contract extensions for their respective teams surpassing $50 million per year as they get deeper into their contracts. This ultimately has once again raised the price for top-end quarterbacks in the league.

Joe Burrow could set those price points as his standing ground to force the Bengals' hand or leave for another opportunity elsewhere. However, Gronk believes that Burrow should take the alternative route to what the QB market is today and go with the less popular route.
"I'm waiting for a quarterback to do that, like kind of go down the Brady route," Gronkowski said. "Not as much as the Brady route. I mean, he was taking 50% discounts, which we don't even get at the pro shop in New England."
Burrow is one of the best quarterbacks in the league and is just two years removed from taking his team to the Super Bowl. Burrow will be in that next-level tier of QBs who deserve the massive contract, but if he prioritizes winning Super Bowls over massive amounts of cold hard cash it would be wise to follow in Brady's footsteps to get the best talent around you.
