Cardinals Could Cash in on Anthony Richardson NFL Combine Hype

Anthony Richardson made himself some serious money at the 2023 NFL Combine. The Arizona Cardinals could capitalize off that.
In this story:

The Arizona Cardinals already have their franchise quarterback in Kyler Murray, and though they'll need a plug for his absence while he recovers from ACL surgery, the Cardinals won't be in line to select a quarterback atop the 2023 NFL Draft.

Arizona - sitting with the No. 3 pick - will benefit from passer-needy teams moving up to the top of the board. That was already (assumingly) pushing top talent such as Alabama's Will Anderson or Georgia's Jalen Carter to the team at No. 3 with any combination of Bryce Young/Will Levis/C.J. Stroud going ahead.

However, a new quarterback has entered the conversation after a tremendous combine.

Florida Gators passer Anthony Richardson lit up Indianapolis with his performance at Lucas Oil Stadium by showing off his rocket arm:

He also blazed down the track of the 40-yard dash:

His measurables are also... something:

All the above has teams salivating at the prospect of finding the league's next great, athletic quarterback. With Richardson's superb testing in Indianapolis, the conversation of quarterbacks going on a quick run at the top of the draft order has begun.

That's great news for the Cardinals, who could potentially cash in with the No. 3 pick. Holding the key for another franchise's quarterback would demand quite the return in draft capital, a welcome sign for an organization that has needs everywhere.

Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort said he's open to the idea.

"I mean it's a position that I hope that we're not in too many more years," Ossenfort said at the NFL Combine.

"It presents an opportunity that there's going to be a good player there for us to take at number three and so we'll be prepared to pick a player at number three. Also our phones will be open and I'm open to hearing any conversation about anybody that's willing to come up. I think with that number three pick it's an opportunity to add a player, it's an opportunity to potentially get some calls on that pick. Ultimately we'll make the best decision for us at the time."

Whether Arizona plans to trade down one spot or a bit deeper into the top ten remains a question. However, it's becoming clear that the Cardinals could trade down, recoup pivotal draft capital and still get a top prospect to help turn the team around.

The Cardinals should be the driver of the Anthony Richardson hype train.
