Cardinals Named Landing Spot for Charles Omenihu
The Arizona Cardinals figure to have some roster turnover this offseason.
Such is life for a 4-13 football team that has 30 scheduled free agents under a new regime. While a handful of smaller names figure to return to the fold for the sake of depth, notable players such as Byron Murphy and Zach Allen are still up in the air.
With Allen potentially darting and J.J. Watt enjoying retirement, Pro Football Focus says the Cardinals are a landing spot for defensive lineman Charles Omenihu.
"New head coach Jonathan Gannon brings aboard a versatile defensive lineman with experience in different defensive fronts during stops in Houston and San Francisco, also with the added benefit of taking talent away from the division-rival 49ers," said PFF.
"Omenihu logged a career-high 54 quarterback pressures in 2022 with pass-rush grades above 75.0 in consecutive seasons. He would be a much-needed addition to a potentially depleted Cardinals defensive line."
Omenihu was the No. 35 free agent in their Top 50. To find out where Zach Allen and Byron Murphy are projected to land, click here.
Omenihu is 25-years-old and does indeed fit in the projected youth movement in Arizona. He initially entered the league as a fifth-round pick in 2019 with the Houston Texans and played the last two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.
If the Cardinals want to reach the quarterback better in 2023, there's worse options on the market.
