DeAndre Hopkins Shares Favorite Moment With Cardinals

Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins says the highlight of his career was the team's 7-0 start in the 2021 season.

PHOENIX -- The future of Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins is still up in the air, but the chip on the superstar receiver's shoulder might never escape.

"I always had that underdog mentality even though I was a first-round draft pick. Where I come from, you always got that chip on your shoulder. So when I got traded [from Houston to Arizona], I was like, 'Man, f--- it. The only I can do is go out and prove myself'," said Hopkins on the Pat McAfee Show.

Hopkins joined the internet's most popular weekly NFL talk show to discuss a few different things, the most obvious of which was his status on the trade block. The Cardinals are reportedly looking to move on from the 30-year-old receiver.

While Hopkins admitted he does keep up with all the trade rumors, he wouldn't dive into his own situation. His 15 minute cameo with McAfee revealed some other information about Hopkins, which included the highlight of his career with Arizona:

"I feel like the highlight of my career at the Cardinals was when we were 8-0 and we had a chance to do something special there. Obviously I got hurt and we couldn't continue but I felt like I gave the organization a chance to prove themselves after I got hurt. Obviously we didn't finish but I think that right there showed that, whatever they traded me for, hopefully it was worth it," said Hopkins.

The Cardinals actually started 7-0 but were the team's lone undefeated team at that point. However, Arizona would fall apart down the stretch of the season after Hopkins missed time with a hamstring injury before eventually tearing his MCL.

The Cardinals lost their final four-of-five games but still limped into the postseason, where they lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card round.

Since then, plenty has changed. Hopkins appears to be next in line for whatever change the Cardinals deem necessary. We'll see if he's actually dealt, but at least now we know his favorite moment with the team.
