Arizona Cardinals WR Marquise Brown has quite the opportunity ahead of him.

Without DeAndre Hopkins in the fold, Brown will once again anchor WR1 duties in the desert, something he proved he could do last season when Hopkins served his six-game suspension for PED use.

From Weeks 1-6, Brown registered 43 receptions for 485 yards and three touchdowns. For a full season's worth of production, those numbers would have been solid.

Brown - who is also entering the final year of his rookie contract - fully intends on taking on the role as a leader in a Cardinals receiving corps that features players such as Rondale Moore, Greg Dortch. Zach Pascal and Michael Wilson among others.

"I'm always working to be the best on the field no matter what. So for me, I was just working. I wanted him to be here, but he's not. I know he's gonna do great things for wherever he go. But for me, my thinking process and my role, how I see myself, hasn't changed," Brown told reporters when asked how Hopkins' absence changes things.

"Just being that leader in the room. I gotta lead by example, something I take pride in, something I'm looking forward to doing."

Brown currently has an ADP (average draft position) of 81 with a positional ECR (expert consensus ranking) of being WR33 according to FantasyPros.

Even as Kyler Murray continues to rehab from a torn ACL, Brown will be the top target on a team that will likely be involved in plenty of passing situations this upcoming season.

Pro Football Focus agrees, putting Brown near the top of their list of ten players who will increase their target totals ahead of 2023:

"After recording 103 targets in just 12 games in what was an up-and-down 2022 season for the Cardinals, 'Hollywood' should be in line for an even larger target share in 2023 following DeAndre Hopkins‘ departure. Questions around Kyler Murray’s early season availability may make fantasy owners hesitate but in his four games without Murray, Brown averaged 7.5 targets per game even while playing alongside Hopkins in three of them," wrote Austin Scott.

"Considering the weapons at the Cardinals' disposal this season and the likelihood that the team will be playing from behind, the 2023 passing game should operate through Brown."

Whether it's Clayton Tune or Colt McCoy throwing him the ball, Brown should outperform most expectations as he anchors a team plenty are overlooking heading into next year.
