Three Trade Packages for Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins

With more clarity on the realistic asking price, here are three trade packages for DeAndre Hopkins.
In this story:

The clock continues to tick on the eventual trade of DeAndre Hopkins for the Arizona Cardinals, but we are beginning to get some more clarity on the situation. The asking price of a second-round pick will not come to fruition and the Cardinals will be looking for mid-round picks, future assets, and maybe some depth players.

With this in mind, I have crafted three trade scenarios for Hopkins to depart from the Cardinals. While there are many suitors out there, the three I chose made the most sense to make the move. Better yet, they are all AFC teams!

Let's dive into the three trade scenarios I have here for the DeAndre Hopkins sweepstakes, starting with:

Baltimore Ravens

Trade package:

Cardinals receive pick 124 and WR Tylan Wallace

Ravens receive DeAndre Hopkins

The Ravens have to convince Lamar Jackson that they are serious about building this team up around him and the best way they can do that is by giving him a legitimate number-one wide receiver. There aren't many available, but they should be honed in on Hopkins.

What makes a trade tricky with the Ravens is general manager Eric DeCosta likes using all his ammo and the team only has five picks in this year's draft. If they want to get Hopkins and only mortgage capital this year, I could see the team move a decent pick and a player.

While Tylan Wallace has yet to emerge in any way in his career thus far, it still gives the Cardinals a receiver back with some upside if he can ever find his way onto the field. We also wouldn't complain about getting a fourth-round pick, which spoiler alert is the best pick they get in these scenarios.

Buffalo Bills

Trade package:

Cardinals receive pick 137 and a 2024 fifth-round pick

Bills receive DeAndre Hopkins

Adding Hopkins to the Bills roster would hopefully be the move to take them over the top in a conference that is loaded with Super Bowl contenders. The idea of having Josh Allen throwing to Hopkins, Stefon Diggs, and Gabriel Davis is very tantalizing and a reality they can make true.

The 137th pick is near the top of the fifth-round and previously belonged to the Cardinals thanks to the Cody Ford trade. This is decent capital in year one and then the Cardinals are able to add another fifth-round pick on top of it for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Moving Hopkins for two fifth-round picks may not appeal to many, but it's a very high fifth-round pick in 2023 and the 2024 NFL Draft looks to be very talented.

New England Patriots

Trade package:

Cardinals receive pick 184 and a 2024 fourth-round pick

Patriots receive DeAndre Hopkins

Trading Hopkins to the Patriots feels like the trade everyone is waiting on and expecting to happen. Bill Belichick has a widely known appreciation for Hopkins and his team desperately needs playmakers on the outside. Quite frankly, Hopkins, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Kendrick Bourne would be a very underrated receiving core.

The Patriots are a middle-of-the-pack team at best in the AFC right now and looking to be the worst team in its own division, the AFC East. If they want to get out of the cellar, they drastically need to improve this offense.

The 184th pick is near the top of the sixth round, but what is enticing is the future fourth-round pick for the 2024 NFL Draft. Adding Hopkins could make the Patriots a better team, but their odds of getting far in the playoffs in the AFC are not great. If they flop, this could be a really good value for 2024.
