Adrian Wilson Gives Heartfelt Goodbye to Cardinals Fans
The Arizona Cardinals lost a good one.
Front office executive Adrian Wilson is reportedly being brought on to the Carolina Panthers' front office as their vice president of player personnel, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.
Wilson spent over a decade with Arizona as a defensive back before moving into a regional scout role with the team in 2015. He eventually worked his way into a role as vice president of pro scouting in 2021.
Wilson nearly received the open general manager position of the Jacksonville Jaguars last offseason when head coaching candidate Byron Leftwich wanted to bring him on. Things eventually fell apart and Wilson stuck around in Arizona.
Wilson's strived to always land the GM role, and after failing to secure the opening in Arizona, the move to Carolina gives him a better opportunity to put his fingerprints around a team.
He left Cardinals fans with the following message:
"I wanted to thank the Bidwill Family and the whole Cardinals Organization for embracing me over these last 22 seasons as I embarked on a career as a player and front office executive. There are many people inside the building that I would like to thank personally but just know each and ever person there holds a special place in my heart. This opportunity came about and I asked Michael Bidwill if I could pursue it and he never wavered in his continued support. I can't thank Michael enough for this opportunity to continue gaining experience and knowledge. This isn't a situation where I was unwanted I want to be clear. Monti and Michael both wanted me to continue as a Cardinal and it was my decision to seek out another opportunity. I'm saying that I'll always be an Arizona Cardinal in my heart but it was time to spread my wings and fly.
